A Letter From The Blogger: Amanda’s Why ADPI

Hi friends and strangers.

My name is Amanda and I’m a Journalism major with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Fashion. I’m going into my junior year of college and I’ve been a member of Alpha Delta Pi since fall of my freshman year.

When I look back at every accomplishment I’ve achieved during my time at Arizona State, the biggest of my accomplishments have come from Alpha Delta Pi.

When I first joined my chapter, I had zero intention of holding a leadership position. In fact, the idea of it scared me. I went through the entirety of my freshman year with that mindset.

Once my sophomore year rolled around, our former Vice President of Operations, Peri, reached out to me and began pushing me more towards the idea of having a leadership role. Her and I went to grab coffee to talk more about it and my journey began.

Since then, I’ve held two different leadership positions, Director of Public Relations and Open Recruitment Specialist, and it’s truly changed my experience in Alpha Delta Pi for the better. I’ve connected with people that I barely spoke to before, learned how to plan and execute events, and how to work even better with a team to bring incredible ideas to life.

Thanks to our Vice President of Marketing, Camryn, and our new Director of Public Relations, Nicole, I was even able to help them take the idea of this blog page and make it everything we hoped it would be.

Now, this isn’t my original Why ADPI, but it’s grown to become my new reason.

While I am the first person to step up and take charge in a lot of situations, being that person within an entire chapter is a different ball game. It takes A LOT of guts that I never even knew I had. Thanks to girls like Peri, Camryn, Nicole, and many others, my sisters have helped me find that strength within myself. I’m so beyond grateful to them for that.

As for what the rest of my future looks like within this chapter, I’ll never be fully certain until the next door reveals itself. All I know is I can’t wait to continue forward and watch this chapter grow with some of my closest friends right by my side.

Here’s to many more memories, friendships, and opportunities to come. Thank you Gamma Rho for everything!
